Thin Lettering and Yellow Hue

I wanted to add something special to the main card of our wedding invitation suite, so I thought adding gold foiling to the names would be a nice touch. However, my font was much too thin for this and it is only noticeable if you tilt the card back and forth in the light. Also I guess using gold foiling adds a yellow hue to the entire card so now the color is off from the rest of the invitation suite. Overall, I'm not happy but it's not the end of the world. More upset with myself that I paid extra for something no one will notice and now stands out for the wrong reason.

We are sorry to hear that the foil accent did not show up well on the letters, as the letters were too fine, and there was a yellow tint on the design. Upon reviewing the document, we saw that the font color was black. Foil accents are best used on colors and are not recommended for black or white. Regarding the yellow tint, we would need to see a photo showing this, as this is not typical for the foil accent. Furthermore, we have taken action on your account, and a follow-up email with more details will be sent to you. We recommend removing the foil accent, using a regular paper stock, and placing a new order for the best printing. We trust this was helpful to you.

Frequently asked questions

The metallic printing on our foil postcards is flat. If you’re looking for a textured, 3D finish, we do also offer embossed foil postcards.

The short answer is yes! But let’s get into a bit more detail. Foil printing is only available on the front of your postcard, and your options depend a little bit on whether you choose a template or upload your own design.

If you’re going to personalize one of our foil postcard templates, you can click on the “Finishes” option to see the different areas where you can add foil printing.

If you’re uploading a design you already have, we’ll ask you if you want to add foil to your text, images or both. And if you’re not sure where exactly the foil should go, there’s also an option to have a design expert choose for you.

For the design upload option, the foil will be the same color as the image in your original design – which means almost any color foil is available! With our templates, you can change the color of almost any piece of the design where you’ve opted for foil.

At the moment, we’re only able to offer foil printing on the front of your postcards. You can add full-color printing to the back for an additional charge.
