I really like the lettering, but prior to use I have to wipe the ink off from around the edges, or it makes a mess on whatever I'm stamping.

This "halo" effect can sometimes occur if the stamp is pressed with too much force or if there is a slight build-up of ink on the rubber plate. We recommend using a firm, quick motion rather than a heavy, lingering press to help get a cleaner impression. Additionally, you might try gently dabbing the edges of the rubber die with a lint-free cloth to remove any residual ink from the manufacturing process.
