Nice feel, but not great for dark, subtle backgrounds

If you have a dark or black background card, they will appear lighter than they would if the card was glossy. The grit absorbs and obscures subtle print details.

We understand your concern that a matte or textured finish might absorb ink differently than a glossy finish, potentially obscuring subtle details. However, this should not significantly affect the clarity of your design, as the artwork appears quite light in our system view as well. To achieve the deep, rich black or dark tones you are looking for, we recommend revising your design using CMYK color values specifically optimized for print. This will ensure the saturation is high enough to stand out on the card stock. Fine grit business cards (also known as sandpaper business cards) are made from thick paper stock, with a synthetic lamination over it. This is what creates the slightly coarse, sand-like texture.

Our fine grit paper is 16pt, somewhat thicker than a typical business card. To give you a frame of reference, each point (pt) is equal to 0.001 of an inch.

Not at all! The cards feel like fine sand, and while they will catch your fingers as you touch them, it’s not rough or abrasive in any way.

No, we can't add special finishes to the fine grit lamination. But this special texture is designed to stand out on its own!
