A smoothly coated classic

Polished and professional, matte finish business cards are always in style. Matte paper has been a customer favorite for years, and it’s easy to see why. The smooth, low-contrast finish reduces glare and deepens colors, making them a great option for readability and modern designs like black business cards.

Got the color all wrong, ordered royal blue not navy blue!
Oct 16, 2026 | Karen H. | United States United States |

I was thrilled to have help and order new business cards. The gentleman that assisted me was great! I explained the color I wanted was royal blue which were our company colors with black and white. The sample color on the computer was perfect…. and then the box(es) came. What a disappointment! They came with our logo being navy blue and NOT the royal blue that I was very specific about. I will go ahead and use the business cards up but unfortunately; I will NOT be placing any more orders or ordering the car magnets. Terribly Disappointed
Response from Vistaprint Customer Care Team:
Thank you for taking the time to share your review, and we are truly sorry to hear that your Matte Business Cards arrived in navy blue instead of the royal blue you specifically requested for your company branding. We completely understand your disappointment, especially after such a helpful experience setting up your order. The reason for this color shift comes down to how colors are displayed digitally versus how they are printed. Computer screens show designs in RGB color mode, which uses light to display vibrant, luminous shades like royal blue on screen. However, physical printing converts artwork into CMYK ink formulations. Because inks absorb light rather than emit it, saturated digital colors naturally undergo a gamut shift and can print in deeper tones, which resulted in your royal blue appearing as navy blue on paper. We understand how important it is for your company colors to be accurate, and we would love to make this right for you. To help us ensure your cards print in the exact vibrant blue intended, we recommend providing the specific CMYK color code or values for your company branding. Once we have that color mix, we can help adjust the design so your replacement cards turn out perfectly. You can choose from our square shape and rounded corner upgrades. We also offer special finish upgrades, like embossed gloss or foil accent. Just look for those choices as you go through the design process, and keep in mind that special finishes aren’t available with square business cards.

Absolutely. You can choose from glossy finish business cards and a variety of others. Matte business cards have a smoother, non-reflective surface, sometimes described as silky or polished. They’re great for deep colors, especially for black business cards, and have a refined feel. Glossy business cards have a shiny, light-catching finish that helps bright colors and photographs pop.
