Is the link correct?

Check that the URL or information your QR code links to is correct. A small mistake can direct the person scanning to the incorrect URL.

Is the placement right?

Put your QR code in a clear, uncluttered spot, like the back of a business card.
Keep it away from the edges and folds (for products such as packaging boxes or brochures) so it doesn’t get cut off during printing.
Leave space (called a “quiet zone”) around the QR code so scanners can read it easily.
Use VistaPrint’s alignment tools to line it up properly with other design elements.

Is it big enough?

Drag the corners of the QR code to resize it in the design tool.
A good size is at least 2x2 cm (about 0.8x0.8 inches). Bigger is usually better, as long as it doesn’t take over your design.

Is there enough contrast?

Make sure your QR code stands out from the background. High contrast (like black on-white) works best.
Avoid colors that are too similar or backgrounds that are busy or patterned.
Light, solid backgrounds are your best choice.

Is the image clear?

Zoom in and check that the QR code isn’t blurry or pixelated.
Make sure the resolution is high enough for printing.
Try scanning the code on your screen with your phone. If it doesn’t scan well, recheck the image quality or use the QR generator in VistaCreate or the VistaPrint studio.

Is the code too detailed?

Make the QR code larger so all the details can be read.

Is the material too glossy?

Very shiny materials can reflect light and make QR codes hard to scan.
We recommend using matte finishes instead of gloss.
Also, avoid using spot gloss directly on the QR code.

Is the surface curved?

If you’re printing on curved items (like mugs or pens), the QR code can become distorted and unreadable.
Make sure the QR code isn’t too large for the space—if it wraps around the surface, it may not scan.
