I feel like I was tricked…

Apologies for the long story… I needed a window decal of my logo for the front window of my new business, so that’s what I googled. VistaPrint pop up #1 on the list. They have never done me wrong in the past, so I go for it. The examples in VistaPrint’s photo gallery of “business window decals” clearly show Cut Vinyl on glass of a doughnut logo. The product looked great and was exactly what I needed. I upload my logo and checked off on the proof. I hesitate because it look like it going to a gigantic uncut sticker, but maybe it just looks that way because of the white lettering in the proof… I convince myself it will be cut like the example from the photo gallery and come sandwiched in between two pieces of transfer film. WRONG, it was a gigantic sticker. Im sure it said it came with a squeegee, I was wrong about that too. I get it installed anyway and run into many difficulties, but the most frustrating was the rough and not fully cut edges, making the overall product look cheep and unprofessional. This is most likely all my fault for not understanding the website but I do feel like I was a CUT Vinyl window decal. Now I’m catching flack form neighboring business’s for looking CHEEP.

Based on your order, the 36" x 31.50" decal was submitted in a standard square/rectangle shape, which is why it was produced as a single uncut sticker. While our product gallery includes examples of cut vinyl-style designs, the option to upload a custom shape—which allows for contour cutting—is available during the design process but was not selected in this case. As noted in our FAQs (https://www.vistaprint.com/signs-posters/window-decals#FAQs), custom shapes can be created for decals ranging from 5" x 5" up to 36" x 48". Regarding the squeegee, this accessory is available as an optional add-on during checkout, but it must be manually selected before completing the order. We’re sorry if this wasn’t clearly communicated during your purchase. We truly appreciate the photo you provided as a reference. However, after closely reviewing the image, we’re unable to clearly identify the rough and uneven edges you mentioned, even when zoomed in. To help us investigate and resolve this properly, we kindly ask that you reply to your review with closer, high-resolution photos that clearly show the edge quality and any other concerns. Yes, we do. In addition to offering our standard square and rectangular shapes, you can now upload a custom one. You can design your custom shape to fit an area small as 5" x 5" or as large as 36" x 48".

Yes. Inside-glass decals are also known as second surface custom window decals. Similarly, outside-glass decals are sometimes referred to as first surface decals.

We recommend the “wet application” method:

  1. Clean: Make sure your window is clear of dust or particles
  2. Wet: Cover the window with a mix of warm water and washing up liquid.
  3. Apply: Peel your decal off the backing before you place it on the window.
  4. Smooth: Start from the center of the decal and use a flat edge (like a credit card) to remove any bubbles.

Yes. To reposition your decal, just peel it off the glass and follow the steps outlined in our application guide above.

We don’t recommend it. Our window decals are designed for use on flat glass.

We don’t recommend doing so. While our vinyl window decals can be repositioned easily, transporting and storing them for events can lead to dust and debris, which causes bubbling.

These window decals are made of premium vinyl material with a clear gloss finish. They are weather resistant and semi-permanent, but the adhesive allows for residue-free removal. We also have other decals such as window clings and perforated for different uses.

Yes – We recommend applying your vinyl adhesive in mild weather. Still, our decals can resist temperatures from -40° F to 225° F.

To ensure the best quality for custom-shaped products, please follow these design guidelines:

  1. Avoid small, floating elements
  2. Avoid very fine lines and detail
  3. Keep edges smooth and simple
  4. Upload high-resolution artwork
  5. Keep important text or parts of your design away from the safety lines laid out in the design tool

No, there’s no need to invert your design. Whether you choose an inside or outside application, text and graphics should be submitted in a left to right reading orientation.
